Free parking for Prees Heath reserve and wildlife walks
Tilstock Lane Parking is a free council-operated gravel lay-by located off Tilstock Lane in Prees Heath, serving the surrounding rural community and nearby Shropshire Wildlife Trust reserve. The unmarked facility accommodates approximately 30 vehicles on a first-come basis; open from dawn until dusk; no overnight parking. There is no lighting or CCTV; daytime use only. A wildlife information panel at the entrance outlines heathland restoration projects, butterfly and birdwatching guides, and walking trail maps (2 km and 4 km loops). Benches and picnic tables are positioned near the lot perimeter overlooking heathland habitat. Pedestrian paths lead directly to the Shropshire Wildlife Trust reserve entrance (0.05 km) and to connecting bridleways toward Whixall Moss (3 km). Seasonal volunteer conservation days reduce capacity by 10; signage directs drivers to alternative lay-bys on Weston Lane (1 km). Maintenance crews clear invasive gorse quarterly and perform litter picks monthly.
