Waterfront parking with accessible bays, pay-and-display, and quick walk to Brightlingsea watchtower and ferry.
Tower Street Car Park is a council-operated lot located off Copperas Road near Brightlingseas historic watchtower and Mersea Island ferry terminal. The lot offers 50 sealed gravel bays, including two accessible spaces adjacent to the pedestrian path leading to the towns high street. Pay-and-display machines accept coins and contactless cards; tariffs are £1 per hour with a three-hour maximum stay, and a daily cap of £5. Solar-powered LED bollard lights line pedestrian routes from dusk until 10:00 pm, and two CCTV cameras monitor entrances, exits, and accessible bays for security. Covered information boards at the entrance display local bus timetables for the 75 service to Colchester, ferry schedules to Mersea Island, and tide charts. Pedestrian pathways link directly to the watchtower museum, local pubs, and the waterfront within a two-minute walk. Monthly maintenance includes gravel replenishment, line repainting, and litter clearance to maintain a tidy waterfront environment.
