Free parking for Woolley Edge scenic views and walks

Be the first to review

Viewing Point Car Park is a free, council-managed gravel lay-by located in the Woolley area, providing access to Woolley Edge Junction viewpoint and nearby countryside walks. The unmarked facility accommodates approximately 15 vehicles on a first-come basis; it is open from dawn until dusk with no overnight parking. There is no lighting or CCTV; daytime visits only. A National Trust information board at the entrance provides maps for a 3 km circular walk around Woolley Edge and historical notes on the ancient ridgeway. Benches and picnic tables are positioned near the lot perimeter overlooking panoramic views of the Aire Valley. Pedestrian paths lead directly to the viewpoint (0.05 km) and onward to local bridleways toward Nostell Priory (5 km). Seasonal birdwatching events reduce capacity by 5; signage directs drivers to the Woolley Grange conference center overflow lot (2 km). Maintenance crews clear litter monthly and trim surrounding hedgerows quarterly.
