Rustic parking at Weetslade woodland trails.
Weetslade Country Park Car Park is a free, gravel-surfaced facility managed by Northumberland County Council, located at the western entrance to Weetslade Country Park. The lot accommodates approximately 60 vehicles, including two informal disabled-access bays on level ground near the main trailhead. There is no lighting, so parking is restricted to daylight hours (typically 06:0020:00 in summer), and no CCTV coverageusers park at their own risk. A natural stone path leads directly from the car park into mixed woodlands and grasslands, where waymarked trails loop around sheep-grazed meadows and the restored slag heap summit offering panoramic views over Cramlington. An information board at the entrance details local wildlife habitats, including heathland flowers and breeding bird species, and volunteers from the Friends of Weetslade group conduct monthly litter picks and trail maintenance. Surface drainage ditches prevent waterlogging after heavy rain, and the hard-wearing gravel is graded biannually to eliminate potholes.
