Seasonal overflow parking with accessible bays, pay-in-season, and direct access to Brightlingsea promenade.
West Prom Grass Car Park is a seasonal overflow facility managed by Tendring District Council, located off Western Promenade behind Brightlingsea Promenade Gardens. The lot comprises 100 marked grass bays with reinforced gravel sub-base, including four accessible spaces closest to the paved footpath leading to the seafront promenade. Parking is free of charge between November and March; during the summer season (AprilOctober), a temporary boom barrier is in place with a daily tariff of £3, payable via pay-and-display machines. Solar-powered LED bollard lights line pedestrian routes from dusk until 10:00 pm, providing safe access to the promenade. One CCTV camera monitors the entrance during summer months for security. Covered information boards display seasonal event schedules, ferry timetables to Mersea Island, and local walking maps. Pedestrian footpaths lead directly to Brightlingsea Sailing Club and café within a two-minute walk. Quarterly maintenance includes grass cutting, line repainting, and litter clearance to maintain a tidy recreational space.
