Free parking for West Woods nature reserve
West Woods Car Park, on an unnamed lane northeast of Marlborough (SN8), provides 30 grass-reinforced bays for forest visitors. Open daily from 6 am to 9 pm (extended hours in summer), parking is free, courtesy of the Forestry Commission. The site has no lighting to preserve the woodland environment, so visitors are advised to arrive during daylight. A gravel footpath leads directly into West Woods, renowned for bluebell displays in spring. There are no disabled bays or EV charging facilities, as the remote rural location lacks grid connections. The car park is unstaffed, but informal surveillance is maintained by park rangers patrolling the area. It is approximately a 5-minute walk to the main trailhead, making it a popular starting point for nature walks and mountain biking.
