White Lodge Car Park – Peak District NP White Lodge Car Park, Buxton DE45 1NL

Free National Park parking for Three Shires Head and moorland walks

Be the first to review

White Lodge Car Park is a free, Peak District National Park Authority–managed gravel facility located near White Lodge on the A515, serving visitors to Three Shires Head and upstream Dove Brook cascades. The unmarked lot accommodates approximately 60 vehicles on a first-come basis; it operates from dawn until dusk; overnight parking is prohibited. There is no lighting or CCTV; visitors should park during daylight only. A Park Authority noticeboard provides maps for moorland walks (12 km circular routes), information on local gritstone tors, and safety guidelines for river crossings. Benches and picnic tables overlook the scenic limestone valley. Pedestrian trails lead directly to the river gorge (200 m), upstream cascades (1 km), and national boundary marker (3 km). Seasonal guided walks reduce capacity by 10%; overflow parking is directed to Three Shires Head lay-by (2 km) with a shuttle on event days. Maintenance crews clear litter monthly and inspect drainage quarterly.
