Secure commuter parking with accessible bays, pay-and-display, and direct step-free access to Wivenhoe station.
Wivenhoe Station Car Park is a council-operated surface facility located off Station Road, serving rail commuters and visitors to the village. The lot offers 120 sealed tarmac bays, including six accessible spaces positioned adjacent to the pedestrian ramp leading onto the station platform for step-free access. Pay-and-display machines accept coins and contactless cards; tariffs are £3 for up to 12 hours, £5 for 24 hours, with no overnight parking permitted. Solar-powered LED bollards line pedestrian routes from dusk until 10:00 pm, and four CCTV cameras provide 24/7 surveillance coverage of the entire lot. Covered cycle shelters with space for 15 bicycles are located near the entrance to encourage sustainable transport. Covered information boards display train timetables, local bus connections to Colchester and Brightlingsea, and fare information. Pedestrian pathways link directly to Wivenhoe village centre and quay within a five-minute walk. Monthly maintenance includes line repainting, pothole repairs, and litter clearance to maintain a safe, commuter-friendly environment.
