Trailhead parking with stunning Wharfedale views.
Situated at Pleasant View Farm off York Gate Road, Yorkgate Quarry Car Park serves as the primary access point for Chevin Forest Parks western trails. The surface is compacted gravel with clearly delineated bays for approximately 50 standard vehicles. Due to its rural setting, there are no on-site attendants, but the car park benefits from an open panoramic view over Wharfedale, making it popular with walkers, mountain bikers, and birdwatchers. A wide, stony track leads north from the car park directly into the forest park, where maintained footpaths branch towards the Cow & Calf rocks and the Chevin Ridge viewpoint. The site is unlit after dusk and seasonal weather can render the access road slippery; users are advised to check conditions before arrival. There is no overnight parking allowed, and a free but time-limited ticket (maximum 4 hours) must be displayed during opening hours (08:0018:00 in summer, 08:3016:30 in winter). Signage indicates that overflow parking is available at nearby Otley town centre if spaces are full.
